Kfibre is a natural, complex, raw un-purified prebiotic dietary fibre for gut health management and microbiome support containing active phytonutrients & antioxidants and that equals pure prebiotic power for all stages of life and diets, this includes children on solids to Great-Grandparents. And everyone in between.

What does a healthy gut look like?

Despite science moving very quickly in the area of gut microbiome, we still don’t have a lot of answers. It is now possible to depict an individual’s microbiome using a stool sample.  What we know is that a lot of bacteria (abundance) is a good thing, and a lot of different types of bacteria (diversity) is also a good thing. It is likely that there are many forms of healthy microbiome, which may be significantly different from person to person.  It may well be a case of an unbalance in species which is more relevant to disease risk.

How can we achieve a healthy gut?

What we eat plays a significant role in shaping our gut microbiome, and diets high in prebiotic fibres are shown to have a positive effect by increasing the abundance and diversity of gut microbiota. Prebiotics are the food for your gut bacteria that travel through the gastrointestinal tract intact. Once in the colon they are fermented, providing fuel and nourishment to the resident microbiota. Almost like how the right fertilizer nourishes your roses. Consuming foods high in prebiotics regularly has been shown to maintain a rich, diverse and healthy gut microbiome.

The single ingredient in happiGut is Kfibre

Prebiotics vs Probiotics

Probiotic supplements have been marketed as a path to good intestinal bacteria or flora. While the science on this is always developing, an overlooked element is simply what you feed to the bacteria that are already inside you. It is often the case that a person’s microbiome will still contain most of the species of bacteria found in probiotics, but if they were not doing their job from the inside, adding more on top may not be your only answer.

One clear answer is to feed the beneficial bacteria you already have, as well as any probiotics you may want to trial, because if they do not have the food they need, the probiotic value could be going straight down the toilet.

Kfibre a prebiotic for your probiotics?

The beneficial bacteria that deliver health functions thrive on prebiotic fibres, both insoluble and soluble, and by feeding them – their numbers will grow, and they will produce micronutrients such as Short Chain Fatty Acids (SCFAs). Many scientists now believe that SCFAs are a key link between diet, the gut microbiome, immune system function, and the respiratory microbiome – ultimately, your health.

Which Prebiotic actually mimics eating high fibre food? Hint:  It’s Kfibre

Kfibre as a prebiotic has had a long steady journey of success after success in the past decade. Kfibre has undergone many University studies in the past 10 years and our claims are based on direct university verified results. We make minimal literature search-based claims because we don’t need to; we have our own evidence.

When science says your prebiotic is the best? Kfibre again

The University of Tasmania has completed animal model studies that support the prebiotic function and also the natural anti-inflammatory properties of Kfibre. Some of these studies have been published already and more are underway. The first studies essentially demonstrate the positive impact on the microbiome, in terms of increasing microbial diversity and supporting the good bacteria and show reductions in gut inflammation due to digestive changes as a result of prebiotic fermentation.

The University of Queensland has completed fermentation trials that demonstrate Kfibre is fermented at a more uniform rate compared to the industry standard benchmark prebiotic. What this means is that instead of being rapidly digested by bacteria in the gut, and micronutrients only delivered to the upper sections of the gut along with increased gas bloating risks, Kfibre is fermented at a controlled rate that continues along the entire digestive tract effectively until waste passes out.

The outcome of this is that good bacteria are fed for the entirety of digestion, there is much reduced gas bloating risk and micronutrients are delivered to all of your gut.

An unpurified dietary fibre is truly natural

Much work on DFs, however, has examined various purified ingredients that represent limited chemical complexity, contrasting to those that naturally occur in fruits and vegetables. This biochemical complexity of DFs is recently being more appreciated to be a vital factor influencing the gut microbial composition.

K-fibre™ is a complex fibre made by water washing cut sugar cane to remove most of the sucrose. It is then dried and ground into a flour. This chemical free process preserves the cell wall components and results in a high 87% content of total dietary fibre. Such fibre contains both soluble and insoluble fractions in addition to retaining other micronutrients and polyphenols.

Is there a prebiotic that will not cause bloating?

Much work examining DF tends to focus on various purified ingredients, which have been extracted from plants. Increasingly, the validity of this is being questioned in terms of human nutrition, as there is evidence to suggest that it is the actual complexity of DF which affects the complexity of the gastro-intestinal microbiota.

K-fibre has both rapid and slow-fermentable fibres and at ratios that more accurately represent natural whole plant foods. Unlike more simple fibre’s fermentation and the production of SCFAs from K-fibre occurs along the whole of the lower gastrointestinal tract. The similarity of its behaviour to that of other whole plant foods indicates its use as a convenient supplementary source of dietary fibre that can alter microbial ecology and have a positive influence on gut health and wellness.

Kfibre – the natural dietary assist

So, if you live with bloating, indigestion or heartburn, constipation, FODMAP, or food intolerances (Kfibre has no known allergens) that keep you from an optimal healthy digestion or wish to lose a little weight then Kfibre is for you.
